Introducing famous Naju attractions with a special charm.
Its beauty comes from the harmony of history and modern culture within. The spiritual healing offered by Naju comes from this harmony.
The Yeongsangang River originating from
Damyang traverses Gwangju and Naju before flowing into the sea in Mokpo.
As one of the five largest rivers in Korea,
it replenishes the southwestern part of the country with water. Spanning
115.5km in distance, it is the shortest river out of the five rivers, and
one-fifth the length of Nakdonggang. However, it has an abundant water flow,
and near Muan, its size could be comparable to Hangang or Nakdonggang. The
nutrients and soils carried from the upstream area contribute to the large
granary in the downstream area, which is the location of the Naju Plains, the
second biggest plain area following the Honam Plains.
