This is a provincial research institute
located in Naju, Jeollanam-do Province. It is dedicated to conducting research
on the forest ecosystem and forestry. It contains a famous facility that is
widely known as the Naju Sanpo Arboretum.
The Jeollanam-do Forest Resources Research
Institute has been featured on television such as through the variety show, “1
Night 2 Days,” dramas, “Forbidden Love” and “President,” Seo In-guk’s music
video for “Calling,” and Woori Bank commercial. Thanks to the media exposure,
it has become a popular tourist attraction in Jeollanam-do Province.
In 1998, Jeonnam Tree Hospital was opened
for the purpose of performing in-depth diagnosis of damages to trees. One of
the important roles played by the research institute is that it also serves as
a place of leisure and relaxation for the general public, with walking paths,
recreational facilities and an observatory. Inside the Sanpo Arboretum, there
is a walking path on each side of the Metasequoia Path.

Institute has numerous other facilities including the Grass Square, Topiary,
Pine Grove, Greenhouse, Useful Plant Garden, Medicinal Herb Garden, Evergreen
Tree Garden, Rare Plant Garden, Specimen Tree Garden, Cedar Garden,
Commemorative Tree Garden and Aromatic Botanical Garden.
