Seoljaeseowon Confucian Academy was established to honor Seoljae Jeong Ga-sin.
Jeong Ga-sin was a civil official of the Goryeo Dynasty, who served in multiple government positions after passing the national examination, and he was also an excellent writer. In the 14th year of Sukjong’s reign, Seoljaeseowon was founded in Geuman-dong, Noan-myeon, but it was promoted to the status of a Confucian academy and shrine years later in the 38th year of Sukjong’s reign. It was relocated to Yeongan Village in the 3rd year of Gyeongjong’s reign, and an auditorium called Yeongmojae was erected. The auditorium enshrines the ancestral tablets of nine individuals.
In the precincts of Seoljaeseoon, there is Seoljaesa, which is a shrine, Yeongmojae and inner three gates. As an auditorium, Yeongmojae is used to host various events, meetings and academic lectures.
