Giojeong Pavilion is said to have been erected in 1669 by Park Se-hae of the Bannam Park clan. The present-day building, however, was rebuilt in the 17th century during the late Joseon Dynasty, and it was repaired several times thereafter. After its initial construction in 1669, it was repaired in 1745, 1834 and 1981. Inside the building, there are 9 signboards written by writers such as Yu Sang-un hanging from the walls. Giojeong served as a place where writers and poets socialized next to a river and fostered future generations of writers and poets.
