“The House of Kim Hyo-byeong is situated amidst a beautiful natural environment surrounded by bamboos.
Landscape trees that blend well with the surroundings have been planted. Based on the words “Seungjeong giwonhu ogapja iwol,” written on the Sangnyangmun (Buiding Erection Records) on the anchae (women’s quarters), the house is known to have been built in 1924, and it is deemed that the sarangchae (men’s quarters) was also erected around the same time.
The anchae is situated in the back of the housing site facing southwest, and across from it is the sarangchae. Behind the sarangchae, there is a courtyard, and a single-story elevation separates the two spaces. Sarangchae was constructed in an imposing manner on a two-level base, and a garden was formed. In front of it is the sarang-madang, and the hoetganchae (shed) was built perpendicular to the left side of the sarangchae, with the main gate right next to it.
